In 2019 Cormorants settled down on a small islet beside Rauma Port and shipyard. The port is expanding and wants to build a road over the islet, but is denayed by the consevation authorities as the birds are protected by a directive from European Union. Last year the colony was the biggest one in Finland, and as the port have to wait for a court decision, the colony got one more summer to stay.
